The focus suddenly changes during a photoshoot. You can’t focus the camera viewfinder and you don’t get any response when you half-press the button. What do you do if your Nikon autofocus system doesn’t work? You don’t want to spend the money or time on repairs, so you’re stuck.

Nikon autofocusing issues are difficult, but I have a solution for you: I have run into AF problems on a few occasions and, thanks to my experience, I developed a quick system to troubleshoot camera on the spot.

This article will explain the steps I took to get my AF system working. While I am a Nikon user (since I have a Nikon myself), the troubleshooting tips should work with any brand camera: Nikon, Canon. Sony, Fujifilm. Olympus.
