What is a Solar Eclipse?

The plane of the Earth’s orbit around sun and the plane of moon’s orbit are not exactly parallel. Due to this discrepancy, the moon usually does not block our view of the Sun. Occasionally, however, the moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, blocking the sunlight. This is called a Solar Eclipse. Lunar eclipses can be seen when the Earth passes in front of the sun or the moon. But solar eclipses seem to be more rare and spectacular.
